Fjodor – On the Nature of Things [June 2025]
Fjodor’s latest release, On the Nature of Things, distills the depth of his earlier work into a focused, intimate format: two instrumental pieces built around the expressive dialogue of piano and violin. Inspired by Lucretius’ ancient philosophical text of the same name, the EP meditates on the quiet forces that shape the universe—fragility, emergence, decay, and wonder.
Each track serves as a sonic reflection on existence. The first, grounded in contemplative piano motifs, unfolds slowly, like thought itself. The second introduces a lyrical violin that weaves around the piano’s foundation, echoing the dance of atoms and the interconnectedness of all things. Together, the pieces offer a minimalist yet emotionally resonant interpretation of Lucretius’ timeless questions.
Stripped of orchestral excess, this pared-down instrumentation sharpens focus and heightens emotional impact. With no words to guide interpretation, listeners are invited to lose themselves in pure sound—a quiet journey through the nature of things, where silence and space speak as profoundly as melody.
Of time the eternal, ere we had a birth.
And Nature holds this like a mirror up
Of time-to-be when we are dead and gone.
